One of the key features of GCNS is its large outdoor area that is directly connected to the classroom. The playscape sits next to a wooded hill, offering the children another way to connect with nature. The playscape transformed into an outoor classroom this year! The great outdoors offered us countless teaching and learning opportnities. We have measured shadows and dinosaurs, held a stage prouction of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, observed migrating birds, played in the rain/snow, categorized leaves, and discovered countless new friends- worms, caterpillars, slugs, chipmunks, blue jays, and hawks. We document our observations in our Science Notebook and then read books to find more information. The possibilities are endless!

We found the study below fascinating! We are proud to be able to offer children this environment!
